What is SMP?
Scalp micropigmentation, known as SMP, is an innovative non-invasive solution to hair loss. Technicians use a unique formula of pigment and micro-needles to implant tiny dots into the client’s scalp to create an illusion of hair follicles. SMP provides density to hair and restores hairlines, giving a natural and youthful appearance. Unlike hair transplant, the scalp micropigmentation procedure is non-surgical.

How Does it Work?
A full head of hair consists of over 100,000 hair follicles. There are over 100,000 hair follicles on a full head of hair. When a client balds, any patchiness is immediately evident to the naked eye.
Scalp Micropigmentation works by implanting pigment into the scalp in areas where a client is balding. The pigment mimics the appearance of closely-shaved hair follicles, restoring the client’s original look before balding began. S.M.P is a cosmetic tattoo. This is a tattoo intended to restore or improve the client’s natural appearance. For this reason, the technician must pay close attention to blend the dots of pigment with their natural hair color and distinctive hair pattern, which change from client to client. The pigment is implanted using a S.M.P. Pen, with microneedles that deposit small amounts of pigment into the upper layer of the dermis. Pigment implanted here is permanent, resulting in a permanent solution to your client’s hair loss needs.
A full, completed S.M.P procedure requires up to 4 sessions, each lasting 2 to 4 hours. In the first session, the technician will draw and establish the client’s hairline and perform the first layer of density of dots into the client’s scalp. In subsequent sessions, the technicians will add dots to thicken the appearance of the implanted “hair follicles.” This is known as adding density.
Scalp Micropigmentation may require a refresher every 5 to 7 years, depending on the client’s skin and degree of sun exposure.
